Proper clothing is important to allow the hunter to blend in with his surroundings and protect him from the elements and thorn bushes. Care must be taken when selecting clothing as the colour and camouflage must blend in with the surroundings of the area you will be hunting in. Do not wear very hard or loose clothing as it will continually rub and make unwanted noise.

Decent hunting boots will ensure that you do not have to cut your hunting trip short due to blisters. A good ankle high boot is advised to protect against snake bites (snakes are few and far between and are rarely seen, but caution is best). Try to avoid boots that walk loudly.

A hunter that does not have a very sharp knife might as well not be in the veld. It does not have to be the largest but a it will help if it is the sharpest. (what is a rifle with no ammunition?).
Binoculars

Having a good pair of binoculars will always come in handy, especially when glazing. Using binoculars has saved many a hunter wasting time and effort on stalking a animal that is not what you are looking for

It is always a good idea to have a stable shooting platform as there is not always a tree or elevate mound to use when shooting. As any good hunter would tell you, the only thing worse than running out of ammunition, is your backup ammunition clinging in your pocket as you walk about in the veld attempting to stalk your biltong or perfect trophy animal.
Sunburn is a factor even in winter times, as you will be exposed to the sun for the duration of the time you spend in the veld.
